BCPS Celebrates Three Additional National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarship Winners

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) proudly announces that three additional students have been named recipients of 2026 National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarships. These scholarships recognize high-achieving students for their exceptional academic performance, leadership and potential for future success.

Congratulations to the newest National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarship recipients:

  • Kaia Jane, Cypress Bay High School – National Merit University of Central Florida Scholarship
  • Andy WuCypress Bay High School – National Merit University of Florida Scholarship
  • Gabriel GarciaPlantation High School – National Merit University of Central Florida Scholarship

College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship awards are financed by colleges and universities for National Merit finalists who have been accepted for admission and selected the sponsoring institution as their first-choice for college. College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

"We congratulate these remarkable students on this well-deserved achievement," said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. "Their dedication to academic excellence and pursuit of higher education exemplify the outstanding talent found throughout Broward County Public Schools. We are proud of their accomplishments and wish them continued success as they begin the next chapter of their educational journey."

These additional scholarship recipients further highlight the District’s commitment to academic excellence and ongoing success in preparing students for college, careers and life.
